About John Hollywood
John Hollywood was born in Birmingham, England and was brought to Australia at the age of five years old to live in an orphanage in Tardun in the outback of WA. John has always had a love for music, which was fostered from an early age at Tardun. The school's limited resources meant that John and the other boys did not have the opportunity to learn to read music or play instruments, but this did not hold him back. His passion was instead expressed solely through singing - at mass, in choral competitions and in numerous school productions of Gilbert & Sullivan musicals.
As a young man John finally taught himself to play enough guitar and piano to enable him to start creating his own music. Preferring the process of creating new music over reproducing others’, John has been creating music his whole life. Over 30 of his tracks have been recorded, three of which have placed within the top five in the nationwide SCALA song contest*. Among John’s other creations are many songs, poems and even a musical.
John lives in Burns Beach, WA with his wife Kerry and is the father of three boys.
